In the latest episode of the Bitcoin.com Podcast, our host Zach Doty sat down with Crypto Facilities CEO Timo Schlaefer. Zach and Schlaefer discuss his company, and its goal of bringing derivatives trading to the bitcoin markets.

About Crypto Facilities

Crypto Facilites is one of the few insured bitcoin exchanges at present, and offers trading services with up to 50x leverage.

The exchange also offers a futures contract, a new concept to bitcoin trading, with “pretty conservative leverage,” as well as a futures product with higher leverage, which Schlaefer says is “more suited to short-term speculation.”

About Timo Schlaefer

Schlaefer comes from a background of mainstream finance, previously working at Goldman Sachs as an Executive Director in credit quantitative modeling. Prior to that position, Schlaefer says he worked in Mergers and Acquisitions and Goldman Sachs in Frankfurt, Germany.

Highly educated, Schlaefer has a PhD in Financial Engineering, as well as MBAs from both European and American universities.

Derivatives are a modern financial tool that allow traders to hedge against volatility in asset prices.

With Bitcoin being notorious for its wild swings in value, a robust derivatives trading platform could bring some much-needed stability to the price, making the digital currency more appealing to mainstream investors.

With mainstream money flowing into Bitcoin through more mainstream investment vehicles, everyone’s favorite crypto is sure to continue its rapid growth.
