Educational Books on Bitcoin & Its Technology

Throughout the years, many books have been written about Bitcoin and its underpinning technology. Some prominent people have taken a liking to writing about these concepts. Aficionados have probably read titles such as “Mastering Bitcoin,” “The Age of Cryptocurrency”, or “Digital Gold.”

All of those books have one thing in common: they tackle things from a technological angle. Educational efforts in this space should also accommodate the less tech-savvy individuals. Books such as “Bitcoin for Dummies” are an excellent way to get started in that regard. That being said, “Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies: A Comprehensive Introduction” is a must-read as well.

While this is another very technical book on Bitcoin and its technology, it should be approachable by anyone. Various Princeton, Stanford, and University of Maryland professors and students have put this book together. Readers ranging from students to tech entrepreneurs, and researchers to software developer will learn something from this book.

Princeton Book Clears Up Misconceptions

There are a lot of questions regarding Bitcoin and how the technology works. Terms such as decentralization and consensus are important, yet few people grasp their true meaning. The Princeton University book will talk about the history of Bitcoin. There is also a strong focus on the inner workings of blockchain technology. Interestingly enough, there is also a chapter on the Bitcoin politics and regulation.

Another hot topic is the so-called anonymity often associated with Bitcoin. Cryptocurrency has never been anonymous from day one, yet shows pseudonymity traits. These are two very different things, and the book can [hopefully] shed some light on this situation to clarify that difference.

One thing that sets this Princeton book apart from others is how they use video context as well. The writers have created an accompanying website with instructional videos for every chapter. Moreover, there is also a vast collection of programming assignments and lecture slides. Plus, this book can be used with the Coursera online course.

Enthusiasts who would like to get their hand on this book can order it through the Princeton University Store. Both hardcover and eBook versions are available for purchase. The hardcover version is somewhat expensive, though, as it has a $49.50 USD price tag. International buyers will pay 37.95 GBP for the book. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use Bitcoin as a payment method. The Princeton University Store only accepts direct card payments.
