Chasing Casascius is a photobook and that uses bitcoin and associated terminology in its story about a “Block Explorer” seeking an “orphaned block” depicted as a Casascius Gold Plated Bar.

Casascius Gold Plated Bars are rare physical bitcoins created by Mike Caldwell. Purchasers of the book are entered into a third party raffle for the gold plated bar. It is no coincidence that the ambitious book itself represents the gold standard for blockchain technology and has garnered so much support in the bitcoin community, with group buys rapidly forming on various online forums immediately after launch.

No expense has been spared in making this visual wonder the most technologically advanced book launch in history. Aside from the exotic locales photographed and the rare Casascius Gold Bar, the book is tied to Counterparty assets and leverages the bitcoin ecosystem for ownership tracking and charity.

According to the website and indications from the author, book sales continue only until the halving at bitcoin block 420,000, predicted to occur in early-mid July.

Despite sales occurring directly on the Chasing Casascius website, group buys around the world are forming using bitcoin escrow agents, further highlighting the commitment to using the bitcoin ecosystem to its fullest.

At this rate, this book will be in collections, on coffee tables, and in the lobby’s of blockchain consortium member firms for years to come!
