The “accelerated 2-day workshop” will be held in Palo Alto, California and focus primarily on exploring the inner workings of Bitcoin and the Blockchain.
Justin O’BrienTeaching will be delivered exclusively by BitGo software engineer Mason Borda and 21’s Justin O’Brien.
According to a release outlining the event, it will offer “a comprehensive introduction to Bitcoin concepts and the inner workings of the Bitcoin protocol,” which will be delivered via “a combination of theory and practical exercises using the latest Python libraries to interact with the Bitcoin network and the Blockchain.”
The target audience is technical. Computer science students, software engineers and data scientists looking to expand their knowledge of Bitcoin are those mostly invited to attend.
With attendance fees set at $200-$300, the course ranks in the lower echelon for Bitcoin conference-type events. Organizers will even offer dissatisfied customers a money-back guarantee after the weekend’s close.
The weekend in October is set to be busy for the Bitcoin ecosystem, with Italy playing host to the third installment of Scaling Bitcoin.
This series of events, which last year went to Montreal and Hong Kong sponsored by Bitcoin.com, looks at harmonizing the development aspect of Bitcoin in the wake of the intense yet uncertain debates over the past year.
“In early 2015 the Bitcoin development community has faced difficult discussions of how to safely improve the scalability and decentralized nature of the Bitcoin network,” the introduction of the Milan event reads.
To aid the technical consensus building process we are organizing workshops to collect technical criteria, present proposals and evaluate technical materials and data with academic discipline and analysis that fully considers the complex tradeoffs between decentralization, utility, security and operational realities.
Entry to Milan is also in the $300 bracket, having been available for half that amount until August 15. Ten tickets are also being made available to “full-time students” at $25.
Technical aspects are high on the agenda for Milan, the weekend being subtitled “Retarget” to hint at the future technical challenges faced by the Bitcoin ecosystem. One Reddit user described the Montreal and Hong Kong events as “super geeky and eye-opening.”
Nonetheless, amid the continued lack of consensus, opening up the under-the-hood workings of Bitcoin and its technology to gifted third parties active in IT could be more important than ever before.
What do you think about the need to educate the technical community about Bitcoin and Blockchain? Should there be more accessible options? Let us know in the comments section below!
