21 Inc Bitcoin Computer Can Now Run Bitcoin Classic Nodes

The ongoing debate between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Classic supporters is creating an attractive prospect for enthusiasts looking to set up full Bitcoin nodes. Most people are aware of how more network nodes will further strengthen the network, and help broadcast transactions to the Bitcoin miners. A recent post has surfaced mentioning how people can set up Bitcoin Classic nodes on the 21 Inc. Bitcoin Computer. As it turns out, this requires a lot less effort than most people might think.

Bitcoin Classic Nodes On Bitcoin Computer

Not too long ago, a convenient step-by-step guide was posted on how users can set up a Bitcoin Core node on their 21 Inc. Bitcoin computer. The 21 Inc. team has always touted how their Bitcoin computer could be used for so much more other than mining the digital currency, or using it for developmental purposes.

Keeping in mind how this device uses little electricity, it is perfect to have it running 24/7. This opens up exciting opportunities for those users looking to set up a Bitcoin node but are unwilling to do so on their regular computer or laptop. The Bitcoin computer presents a more than viable alternative in this regard, as it only takes a few steps to get everything set up.

Based on the instructions posted on this GitHub page, users should have no issues setting up their Bitcoin Classic nodes on the Bitcoin Computer. In fact, a large part of the installation process is the same as setting up just about any other library or package on the Linux operating system, and the steps are easy enough to follow.

It is not the first time users come up with creative ways to run Bitcoin nodes on devices that are powered on and connected to the Internet at all time. Just a few weeks ago, someone posted a helpful guide on how to run a Bitcoin Classic node on the Synology Disk Station. While that particular process had a graphical interface to get things sorted, the 21 Inc Bitcoin computer installation will have to be done on the command line.

Bitcoin Classic Support Keeps Growing

Looking at the statistics on the Coin Dance website, the number of Bitcoin Classic nodes has decreased slightly over the past 24 hours. The total number is still well above the 1,500 mark, though. What is even more interesting is how the Bitcoin Core nodes are getting close to dropping below the 70% threshold, showing a slow but sure shift in support by community members, miners, and mining pools.

Moreover, the Bitcoin mining support for Bitcoin Classic seems to be holding steady in recent days. With 16, petahash per second in mining power directed at pools supporting this software solution, 34 of the past 1,000 Bitcoin blocks on the network were mined on Bitcoin Classic pools. Most of these blocks are mined by KnCMiner, although Disqus Fish is doing their share of the work as well.

Setting up a Bitcoin Classic node is another use case for the 21 Inc Bitcoin computer. Various projects are listed on their website, all of which can be set up by anyone in just a few minutes of tinkering with the device. Additional Bitcoin nodes are always more than welcome, especially if this helps to decentralize the ecosystem even more.
